BACKGROUND
In 1983, during a visit to Israel, John Brown, a man of deep Christian faith became inspired and dedicated to finding oil and gas in Israel.
During the next fourteen years he made numerous trips to Israel, hired oil and gas consultants in both Israel and Texas and met with Israeli government officials.
In April 2000, Brown formed Zion Oil & Gas, Inc. in order to receive the award of a 28,800 acre onshore petroleum license from the Israeli government.
Finally, after 24 years, Zion shares became available to the public, as officers of Zion Oil & Gas, Inc rang the bell at the American Stock Exchange to start trading on the first trading day of 2007.
Today, the Company explores for oil & gas on two onshore exploration licenses covering approximately 162,000 acres located between Tel-Aviv and Haifa in Israel.
VISION
From day one, the calling of Zion Oil & Gas was to assist Israel in the restoration of the Land by finding and producing oil and gas – helping to make Israel politically and economically independent. The Company sees the State of Israel not only as a refuge for Jews, but also as the fulfillment of prophecy:
“And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God.” (Amos 9:15)
To quote John Brown: “When I first visited Israel, in 1983, I believe that G-d gave me this scripture:”
“In the future, foreigners who do not belong to your people Israel will hear of you. They will come from distant lands because of your name, for they will hear of your great name and your strong hand and your powerful arm. And when they pray toward this Temple, then hear from heaven where you live, and grant what they ask of you. In this way, all the people of earth will come to know and fear you, just as your own people Israel do. They too, will know that this Temple I have built honors your name.” (l Kings 8: 41-43)
With this scripture came the vision for Oil in Israel.
FAITH & SCIENCE
In the beginning, Zion was based on faith alone, but today the Company is based not only on deep faith but also hard science.
In order to understand the geology of the license areas, Zion’s geologists have put together an Israeli country-wide seismic database consisting of 219 seismic sections totaling 2,000 miles of coverage. They have included information gathered from all of the wells drilled in Israel. Using state-of-the-art computer software, this enables them to have a 3-dimensional picture of the structures that are deep under the earth’s surface.
The Zion team is developing four leads and one prospect in the license areas and believes that there are prospective hydrocarbon bearing intervals at depths between 12,500 feet and 18,000 feet. Their studies indicate that they may have a total potentially productive acreage in excess of 20,000 acres.
In 2005, Zion drilled the Ma’anit #1 well on the Ma’anit structure in the Joseph License area and shows of hydrocarbons were recorded from 12,000 feet to the total depth of 15,500 feet, but due to mechanical problems the well was abandoned in June 2007.

I attended the CUFI Summit in Washington D.C. and met Mr Spillman and Mr Brown and was very impressed and thankful that God has given me more wisdom about the end times. I must say I bought the book and have read it twice and beleive that Israel and Zion Oil and Gas will find vast amounts of petroleum oil very soon. I am praying daily that God will allow it to happen this year. Keep up the Faith in Jesus’s name.
