Zion Oil & Gas founder and Chairman, John Brown was interviewed a few weeks ago by Jonathan Bernis on the Jewish Voice television show. Based on the biblical prophecy explained in Jim Spillman’s (my father) 1981 book, The Great Treasure Hunt, and scientific data of more than 30 years of his own personal experience exploring for oil in Israel, John Brown still believes there are vast oil reserves inside Israel even though Zion Oil & Gas has not been successful in finding it.
I’ve known John for more than ten years and I’ve traveled to Israel several times to document Zion’s oil exploration. Zion Oil & Gas has drilled several wells since spudding their first well, the Ma’anit #2″ in March of 2006. I’ve visited every Zion drilling operation. The company has invested more than $100 million in their search and they have yet to produce a commercial oil well. The key word in the last sentence, I believe, is “yet.”
John Brown has conducted his search for oil in Israel by faith for the last 30 years. In the beginning of his search his faith in the discovery of Israel’s oil, wasn’t accompanied by “facts” on the ground. Israel, as far as anyone knew, didn’t have any appreciable oil or gas. Today oil and gas have been discovered in Israel, both offshore and onshore. More than half of Israel’s electricity and much of its industrial power is powered by Israeli gas. And it’s no secret that oil fields lay beneath the offshore gas fields and in the Golan Heights.
Israel has already discovered oil and gas, just as the Bible prophesied, my father predicted and John Brown has believed for 30 years. John Brown and Zion Oil & Gas have been and continue to be a part of this story. If company plans are successful Zion will begin drilling in Northern Israel’s Megiddo Valley (the biblical valley of Armageddon) early next year.
Will they discover oil there? I hope so, but I don’t know. It would be the answer to a lot of prayer and one more fulfillment of Jacob’s Blessing to his descendants. I do know that John Brown’s faith carries him. If Zion finds oil in Megiddo, John probably won’t rest on the discovery; if Zion doesn’t find oil in Megiddo, John won’t be done-in by the set back. Moses’ faith journey took him another 40 years after his 80th birthday. John Brown has only been at this 30 years and his 80th birthday is still some time away. In the Jewish Voice interview below John quotes James 1:3 , “Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” (KJV) The One New Man Bible translation more accurately translates, “knowing that the proving of your faith produces endurance.”
John Brown has proven his endurance, let’s hope patience pays off.
